Well I thought I had all the fuzzy looking stuff out of my tank, but I was wrong. It will not go away. It is all over my plants and even if I wipe it off, in a matter of time it is back. Most of my plants look healthy, but my Dwarf Chain Sword does not. Most of its leaves turn brown and I have to remove them. They are creating runners but these also have brown leaves. I think it is the fuzzy stuff killing my plants.
I have been dosing Kent Marine RX-P for ich every other day and I am only using half the dose. I thought it was safe for plants though.
What is this stuff? Before when it was just on the glass (and still is), I was told it could some type of organism or something?? I can't remember the name though. It looks like some kind of algae. I had some spider web looking stuff at the bottom of my tank, in one corner, but that is gone. This stuff is different.
How can I get rid of it before it kills more of my plants?

Here is a picture of it on my ozelot sword:

This is my Crypt Wendtii red:

This is my dying dwarf chain sword (one of them):

edit: For ferts I use the Seachem line...Flourish, Excel, Nitrogen, Potassium, and Iron. I usually follow the schedule on the Seachem website, but lately since I've been dosing meds, I haven't been using ferts regularly. I didn't want to overload the water.
It is not my tap water I know because this stuff is not in my 10g or my 5g with plants. I have no idea what it is or how to get rid of it. Help! :%)

Looks like dead hair algae after you bleeched it. Just curious, why are you using a saltwater med in freshwater?

It is safe for freshwater and safe for scaleless fish and plants...that's why I use it.
I haven't bleached the plants. Maybe the meds did it?? I had it before I started treating for ich though and it hasn't changed in color. If it was dead wouldn't it go away after I rubbed it off...and not come back?

It also looks like dead hair algae to me. Either that it has collected a lot of fine particals of aquarium junk.

Have a look in [link=My Profile]http://

Will it or should it go away if I just do a water change and try to suck it off the plant leaves? I am still treating ich and I have one more treatment Thurs. and was planning on doing a water change Friday...maybe it will help.
Keith, if not this then what would get rid of it?

Well the stuff can't be dead algae...because I wiped it off my plant leaves and it came back. I also wiped it off the glass, and it came back. Must be some type of micro organism or something. Anyone know how to get rid of something like that?? I am disgusted with my tank because it looks so nasty.
