6500K "reptile" bulb. it was the only t8 bulb the lps i went to had in stock that would fit my fixture. is this close enough to the magic 6700K number for my plants? and does it matter that it's marked for "reptile" instead of "fish"??

I have 6500K's in my tanks...I've been told that it's acceptable .

Any reason you went with the LFS over a DIY store .

Hi,
While I appreciate supporting the LFS, when it comes to
$$ I shop for bulbs at the local Lowes or Home Depot.
They carry T8s in that length. You just purchase the
bulbs that say DAYLIGHT or SUNLIGHT instead of the bulbs
that say warm white or warm glow. Much less expensive.

believe me frank, i have searched and searched my local home depot for 3ft t8 bulbs, and they just don't have the ones i need. i can get 4ft bulbs in soft white or low light, but they don't carry the kind for plant growth, or sunlight, or any of that stuff, and forget about trying to get t8 bulbs even the other hardware stores barely carry t8 bulbs, and they have every length t8 *except* for 3ft ]:|

Actually moondogs right. My homedepot doesnt carry 3' bulbs either, they carry a dual bulb shop light in the 3' lenght but not the right type of bulb....which is how I ended up with the two foot fixture over my 30 gallon....

Arent you all glad to know that .
