Hi,
If you are new to plants, I would suggest that you reduce
your light (wpg). 3 watts/gallon is alot of light,
especially in a small, shallow 10G tank. It's effectively
the same or more than a 4+ wpg tank.
Otherwise:
You might consider a small piece of driftwood, and some
Christmas moss tied to it, any of the short foreground
plants (pigmy chain swords, dwarf sag, etc.)
would do well creating a carpet across the tanks
bottom. Some Corkscrew Val would be nice in a small clump
along the back or in a corner.

Definitely shop around for a great pair of pants, or ?10? if you like. Different brands fit differently you know.

Seriously though, I'd definitely look into getting some fast growing stem plants like green hygro (hygrophilia polysperma), or rotala indica(rotundifola). Both are great at using available nutrients. With that light you could definitely get some cabomba. Look around [link=tropica]http://www.tropica.com" style="COLOR: #FFD700[/link] at some of the plants that frank and I have mentioned.
