Did you take the plant out in the tank?

Is there any thing around the roots wadding etc?

Have a hunt around the place where you planted it to see if there is any thing there that should not be.

If possible take half of the water out first as it could get even dirter if you have to remove any gunk fromm the plant. Replace the water when finished. Let it settle and do a few water changes this certainly will help.

Finally is you substrate dirty if so give it a good gravel cleaning.

I would take it out clean it under a running tap then replant it.

Run an extra filter and plenty of water movement (extra air) this will clean it up.

I have never bought a potted plant but I think that they put stuff in there for food and/or stuff for the roots to root into. This could be the cause of your cloudness. It would be a good idea to pull the plant out of the pot and rinse before you put it into the tank.
