Ok sometime next year I will be hopefully setting up a 75 gallon tank.I Want this to be planted ,but I don't want co2 because I cannot afford it.I have anubias in my 29 gallon right now with about 1.3 wpg and it is growing wonderfully.I dosed it a couple times with plant grow and had a major algae bloom,so I am going to back off of that for awhile since my tank is finally starting to clear up.Anyway I want to put a 130 watt compact on the 75 gal which would mean 1.7 wpg.I will also probably mix some type of plant substrate with regular tank gravel.Should I stick with low light plants? I was looking at the 75 gal deluxe plant pack on www.liveaquaria.com. Would those plants be ok??? If not what out of these would be ok?? I could just order them as individuals.

30 55 75 100
Micro Sword or
Dwarf Hairgrass 1 2 3 3
Water Sprite 1 2 2 3
Anubias Nana or
Anubias Barteri Round Leaf 1 2 2 3
Ludwigia - Broad 1 2 3 4
ChainSword - Narrow Leaf 1 1 2 3
Anacharis 2 3 4 5
Java Fern 1 2 3 4
Cabomba 2 3 4 5
Red Cryptocorne or
Green Cryptocorne 1 2 3 3
Amazon Sword Plant
(Regular Potted) 1 2 2 3

Pristellapower,
The problem with planted tanks without CO2 is that excess light and nutrients WILL be consumed by the algae as you have already experienced. By running CO2 you allow the plants to use more of the light thereby outcompeting the algae for both light and nutrients.

The problem with medium to larger sized tanks (ie anything over 50USG) is that you cant run DIY CO2 sucessfully. So any low light non-CO2 tanks should only be dosed with ferts depending on what the plants need and not a broad fert like most commercial ferts are.

Most of that list looks pretty good. Even though it's a low light tank and on the larger side, you may consider trying a DIY set up.

Those plants on your list should ok in 1.7wpg of light, except perhaps the Hairgrass. Just make sure the low, foreground plants receive enough lighting coverage and not shaded by the taller plants. An alternative to CO2 for low-medium light tank (<2wpg) is Flourish Excel. I have used it quite succesfully in my 23g with 1.7wpg of light.

Good luck!

My problem is my 29 gallon only has 3 anubias plants and I dosed it with a full dose of ferts every time I did it,so I ended up with green water.I really cannot afford a big c02 system. How would I make a diy system that would be good enough for a 75 gallon?

I have never run Co2 or intend to. One basic reason I have too much airation and water movement. Yes I have had a problem with thread algae in the Betta tank but the ferts are geting on top of it now.

In my opinion you seem to have too many species of plants and if you are not careful you could finish up with a mix of greenery rather that a good layout of selective plants.

Have a good look at some quality aquscapes and you will see that the number of plants is limited.
Just something for you to think about. It is often the less the better.

IME anubias doesn't really need any additional ferts, just byproducts from fish food and whatever is in your tap water (by way of regular water changes) should suffice.

Here is an article on green water that might help.

So I was looking at a co2 system on www.drsfostersmith.com. It is priced at $134 and is a semi-automatic system. It says it is for up to 200 gallons.I would just need to find someplace that sells a co2 tank.As for the plants should I cut back alittle? Maybe stick to watersprite, anubias, and maybe acouple other plants.I just thought for $108 that the plant pack was a good idea. What about
Micro Sword or
Dwarf Hairgrass 3
Anacharis 4
Anubias Nana or
Anubias Barteri Round Leaf 2(+ 3 that I have..5 total)
Cabomba 3
Java Fern 3
Water Sprite 3
Red Cryptocorne or
Green Cryptocorne 3 ($85 for all plus shipping)
