I've tried moneywort unsuccessfully in flourescent lit tanks, so I thought I'd share this pic. It's a guppy fry tank, heat provided by the incandescent bulb, the moneywort is absolutely gorgeous and now growing out of the hood ![]() Theresa_M attached this image: ![]() ~~~~~~~~~~~~ There is water at the bottom of the ocean |

If that is doing good for you, i think you should also try Bacopa Caroliniana. I have the moneywart and the Bacopa Caroliniana in my 29 gallon, both are doing great. People grew plants with incandescent lamps way before the invention of flourescents. |

Very true, I hadn't thought of that. Thanks for the plant suggestion, I've actually been looking for something else to add to this tank ![]() ~~~~~~~~~~~~ There is water at the bottom of the ocean |

At some point it is far easier to use flourscents, which consume far less power, put out more light per watt consumed, and operate far, far, cooler. I switched it over to compact fluorescent after it cooked a few fish. Yes they will grow plants but you can get a broader choice and spectrum of bulbs alot easier in flourescent as well as alot less heat so I see no reason to use incandescents for anything. |
