Its pretty established and has roots going into the driftwood. Is there any way i can remove the anubis from the driftwood without damaging the anubias or the driftwood? ![]() |

Take your time as anubias will do pretty well out of water if you need to take the driftwood out. This will probably cause the plant to stop noticeable growth for a while and if it's in good conditions it will regenerate it's roots and anchor into something new. I've done this once, and I don't think the plant was all too happy about it, but it continued growing after a couple weeks. Critical Fertilator: The Micromanager of Macronutrients |

All you need is a growing end of the rhizome (stem) with at least 5 undamaged leaves and as many undamaged roots in that section as possible. Cut the rhizome with a sharp scissors and that's your cutting. Remove the whole of the mother plant from the driftwood(perhaps after taking more cuttings) and get rid of it, or whatever. Then tie the cutting's rhizome to the DW, with a couple of the roots on either side, using some fishing line (my preference but cotton will do), and Robert's your father's brother: your overgrown anubias is now nice and small. Remember the cutting's rhizome will grow AWAY from the cut end, so don't tie it down with the growing end near the edge of the wood or it'll soon grow over the end and dangle with long straight roots! (my male cherry barb loves these long roots, however). Hope this helps! ![]() |

If you remove it, you'll eighter damage the Driftwood or the Plant. http://uk.pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/s8xi5heh/my_photos http://www.geocities.com/s8xi5heh/classic_blue.html http://groups.yahoo.com/group/buzaqq/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/corydoras/ Member of the Malta Aquarist Society - 1970. http://www.maltaaquarist.com |

I just had a 6ins piece fall off this week from one small plant. All my Anubias need a huge hair cut.
