True aqatics respond to inadequate lighting and nutrients much faster, so some people actually prefer to keep terrestrials like Spider plants and just throw them all out once a month. As an asside, I tried growing one in the top of my open HOB filter open rooted. It too failed despite having only the roots in the water. Spider plants melt pretty quickly, peace lilly (another one sometimes sold as an aquatic) lasts a bit longer but often won't put out new leaves. Spider plants won't do too well with the roots submerged without getting enough light, peace lilly being a low light plant will do alright with just their roots submerged for awhile, they will eventually want some soil to dig into though. ^_^ ![]() |

Also i have a philodendrum in there hat is doing quite fine (had it in there for 2 months now) and its growing ![]() me |
