What are some very tall plants? I need plants that will grow to be about 2 and a half feet tall. I don't mind if they have to have support from a dowel rod or a piece of mesh like vines would need.

Jungle Vals will fit the bill and maybe even bend over at the surface. Amazon swords may get that tall (and larger), given good conditions and time.

There are a lot of plants like naja/guppy grass that float near the surface and fill up as much space as you let them.

You won't have to worry about supporting aquatic plants like you would vines, because the water supports the leaves. The closest you might come is using mesh to contain a wall of moss.
