okay... i have a thirty gallon tank which i recently decided i want to heavily plant, it has no fish in it now, but has been cycled for about 4 months.. I have recently found daphnia, or water fleas in that tank, and i was wondering since they arent carnivorous to fish, would they eat my christmas moss and java moss off a moss wall?

please advise asap, i'd like to get the little buggers outta there, but most have said its not really worth the effort.

One of the most common crustaceans to be found in lakes, ponds and quiet streams is the 'water flea', Daphnia. These tiny animals are usually less than 3mm in size, so you could put dozens of them on a single fingernail. They're not really fleas – in fact they're not insects at all, but rather crustaceans, more closely related to crabs and shrimp. Water fleas are extremely important in the food chains of ponds and lakes - they harvest the tiny algae cells that convert sun energy into food, and then they pass this energy along to other animals such as fish or other predators. If you like trout, you really owe a debt of grattitude to Daphnia.

In fact, if you can keep them alive, you will nevber have green water!

yeah, no doubt.. free fish food anyone????


someone told me if i starve my mollies for a few days in my 55 gallon tank, they would eat them all...

good to know.
