at last, my tank started showing signs of growth after two months of cascading disaster.
but wait, my anubia is being eaten!
the largest leaf of my small var. nana is starting to get yellow in the fringes, and the tip has distinct biting marks.

i have 1 betta, 1 cherry barb, 2 ottos.
no snails have been spotted for over a month, not even with some green bait.
so who can it be?

other plants started to thrive, and none is suffering from this. the rest of the Anubia looks fine, sprouting yet another leaf even as i write this.

is this happening on new leaves or any leaves in general? on my anubias barteri, the older leaves start to "disintegrate" around the edges until they are nothing but stems, but the new leaves come up yellow/white and turn bright green when they start to unfold

Yep, when Anubias leaves do that they do tend to look like bites have been taken out of it. I'm sure it will been fine. Anubias leaves are usually too waxy for critters to eat, they'd much rather go after your softer plants.

actually, the oldest leaf was the one to suffer. it also happened pretty quickly, and only in one side of the leaf, which is particularly suspicious.

on the other hand i caught my cherry barbs munching the oto food...and a few days after that bite marks appeared one of them died. maybe food poisoning?

since that untimely death, everything's usual, and the plant itself does seem to mind.
