Here is a few pics of my reef. I am not the best with a camera.

Start off with one of my favorite and one of my first additions, my sea apple. It is one year old now, and has grown since I got him. And yes, he really is these colors;

Some of the tank;

Fox, Fungia, and open brain;

Close up of red fungia;

3 inch maze brain;

Devils hand and a couple purple gorgonia frags I just did;

Red zoos and top of pectina;

Puprle zoos, GSM clown and his RBTA;

Fuzzy shrooms;

Green brittle star I have had for one year, notice the small light green tips with the new growth. Very neat how they grow length wise, then fill out.

I have to say out of all those great pics I like your Achilles Tang the best . I've only seen one at the LFS and it was tiny, how big is yours now? May your Zoanthids grow out of control .

Edit: I was looking at the pic again and i wanted to ask, what do you do to control your bubble algae? I saw some in the maroon clown pic. They've tried Emerald Crabs at the display tank at the LFS but there has been little improvement.

Three Emerald crabs keep the bubble algae under control. That one has been large for a long time. They have not touched it. And, I have been letting it go, to see how large I can get it. While SCUBA diving, I have seen them as large as 3+ inches. It's a shame they grow out of control if you do not have something to control them, as they are said to be one of the best algaes at removing nitrates.

Thanks Lotus, I have had that guy for about 6 months. It has actually grown. I feed it Spectrum, and beef heart twice a week.

Yes, I love the achilies tangs. Not seen very often. Mine is about 4 inches now. He loves his new tank. Very active, and very friendly.

I was surprised no one said/asked about my salt and pepper substrate. One of my fav things about this tank.

I must have skimmed right past it but now that you mention it.... some explanations are in order, what is it comprised of and is there more to it than just looks?

It is natural, and actually, it is live sand. I got it about a year ago, as live sand. Was amazed as it was salt and pepper colored. The black is actually small little pieces of volcanic rock. But, I love the decor so much, I am planning on it for my next 180 reef tank, as well as my 120 SPS tank.

Do you know what area it was sourced from, being natural live sand is a major plus and it would be awesome to actually know where it came from

ps. Cant wait to see the future tanks too

I will find out the name of it, next time I am at the LFS that carries it. Probably sometime the next week or two.

Not to difficult, but has cost quite a bit to get to where it is today. Definitely not for a beginner, but with a lot of research, and time, it can be.
