Your gravity and temp seem a bit low. Gravity should be about 1.023 and your temp should be about 78 to 81 f. Was there anything else that had changed in the tank?

Agree with Dthurs....temp should be raised a little and the salinity is low for a reef tank.....that shouldnt have anything to do with the fish though.

What kind of current/water movement do you have in the tank?

I re-checked my nitrates today and they were at about 21 or 19 ppm. Is that bad? If so how do i lower them?

They generally come out at night. But you will from time to time see a leg sticking out of the rocks. People always ask, what's that?

That will depend on a lot of different things, such as how much calcium you have in the water, how much light, what type of light. It could take 6 months, or more.

also depends on nitrate and phosphate....the lower the better for coralline algae.

How old is the tank?
How was it cycled?
Water parameters, including ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, salinity, temp, alkalinity?
What else is in the tank?
Does the fish have any visible signs of being sick other than those you listed?

We need a lot more info before we can help...start by answering the questions I listed above.

Hey guys,
Its been a while since I've been on this board. A couple of things though for the maroon clown. Two things are common with maroon clowns; 1 is a disease in newly introduced maroons called Brooklynelis Hostilis. This is a foam like growth that appears around the gills. If its not treated, it will cause death. #2 is the fact that maroons are agressive eaters. This may lead to internal blockage which leads to death. I had a Kole tang that did the same thing. I would quarantine him if you have a q-tank. Keeping your salinity lower is good for fish, but you should have it at least 1.022 if you have live rock. Also, 40 ppm is way too much in a marine tank. Try doing 5% water changes a week, it becomes old hat over time. Hope that helps.

Not that it matters now, but you should always have a spare on hand anyways. They only last for a certain period of time, so you never know when you may need one, and they are only a few dollars.

When you do go, I suggest buying two so this never happens again.

Yay! I gought two more salinity gauges, but they store ran out of the 6 dollar ones so i had to buy the 12 dollar ones...anyways i changed 15% of the water and did some tests again and the ammonia looks like its around .15 ppm, Nitrates is 2.0 ppm,ph is 8.25, nitite is around 0 ppm. Is there anything wrong with my water or are all of the stats at where they are supposed to b?

Defentinally a problem.

There should be 0 ammonia.

You probably need to do more water changes.

Its hard to say if this is the result of your clown dying(If it rotted in the tank at all), or the cause of it.

I'd probably let it go for 2 weeks or so. Monitor the water during that period, and if nothing seems unsual you should be be able to start adding things SLOWLY
