Dark Lotus Fish Guru Posts: 2547 Registered: 19-Jun-2001 | The 500W of MH lighting ran about $AU 700 complete and the T5 Kits are $AU260 or there abouts. -DL Cake > Pie |

Dark Lotus Fish Guru Posts: 2547 Registered: 19-Jun-2001 | Its a 4x2x2, light info is below (pasted from above) At moment i have 2 Single Ended 250W 14K MH but a 10K 4' twin tube T5 kit is on its way and depending on the colour result i may add another one of those. Failing that the next kit may be actinic if i decide to replace the 14K halides with 10K halides when the time comes so im not sure yet, ill just wait and see how things look when the kit arrives. I forgot to put the tank info on the post, i will add this information later today. -DL Cake > Pie |

Dark Lotus Fish Guru Posts: 2547 Registered: 19-Jun-2001 | Thankyou, My only advice there is to start planning and reading now and dont be afraid to buy the odd thing as you can to build it slowly. This helps you do a bit larger tank and its not one big hit on the wallet, you will also be very prepared for the setup processes and good maintenance routines by the time you fill the tank -DL Last edited by Dark Lotus at 28-Nov-2004 13:57 Cake > Pie |

houston Fish Guru You want what when? Posts: 2623 Kudos: 2462 Votes: 337 Registered: 29-Mar-2003 | Lotus!!! What a beautiful tank!!! I love saltwater, but am still kind of scared to even venture into it, though I did have one guy I know tell me I could start a very basic one in a ten gallon??? But, I honestly must say if I'm gonna do it, I'll have to do it right, and by that I mean a decent size... Thanks so much for sharing...Heidi Last edited by hmlaird at 27-Nov-2004 23:42 "I've got a great ambition to die of exhaustion rather than boredom." Thomas Carlyle |

stuff_gnome Fish Addict Posts: 620 Kudos: 382 Votes: 0 Registered: 13-Aug-2003 | edit: Can anyone give me anything positive for an ID on the coral on top of the centre clumn? It has a stalk which branches into about 5 or 6 seperate stalks and the ends are a light orange/pink with a bright green centre, i have seen small feeders come out of this and it seems to grow similar to a duncanopsammia type (branching). I havent been able to pin it down and would love it if someone knew what it was. My guess is it's a Caulastrea furcata(candy cane coral) Last edited by stuff_gnome at 27-Nov-2004 19:37 Last edited by stuff_gnome at 27-Nov-2004 19:41 |

Dark Lotus Fish Guru Posts: 2547 Registered: 19-Jun-2001 | Thanks all Yes the one between the brain and clam is an elegance coral, i love them and the different forms you can find them in. Theres another behind the tang and i hope to find more different types. At moment i have 2 Single Ended 250W 14K MH but a 10K 4' twin tube T5 kit is on its way and depending on the colour result i may add another one of those. Failing that the next kit may be actinic if i decide to replace the 14K halides with 10K halides when the time comes so im not sure yet, ill just wait and see how things look when the kit arrives. edit: Can anyone give me anything positive for an ID on the coral on top of the centre clumn? ACIDRAIN Moderator Posts: 3162 Kudos: 1381 Votes: 416 Registered: 14-Jan-2002 | I love the green carpet. But what is that in front of it, near the glass, the one that appears to have two different kinds of tenticles? There is always a bigger fish... |
