Night coral eater | |

The first time it was one of my acan's, which happened to grow most of it's flesh back after a few weeks. I'm quite PO'd this time because whatever it is decided to eat my red echino. Last night I remember checking everything before lights out and everything was fine. This morning before lights on, I see that some small rocks that I don't secure have toppled over into the sand. I say, "hmmm, that's weird" and I walk away to brush my teeth. Then I come back to right the rocks and I notice the red echino isn't where I saw it last night. That's when I spot something white by one of my larger rocks. It was dragged about 6-8 inches from where it was last night and most of the flesh was devoured. I moved it to the other side of the tank, where hopefully it won't be bothered, but I'm not sure this coral will make a comeback like my acan did. I saw the other day that I have another rock crab. I don't know where it's been all this time, but could it do something like that? Anybody know what could have done this? Critical Fertilator: The Micromanager of Macronutrients |

I have a yellowhead jawfish in the 'fuge. That's all that I've intentionally put into my tank other than corals. And like I said, I saw a rock crab the other day. I'll have to find something red to filter the light, I don't think I have anything like that on hand. I hope it's two random freak accidents though. It didn't eat it, but it dragged it behind the rocks. I had to move most of my rockwork to find it. The only damage seems to be from it getting scraped on the rocks. Stakeout tonight. *shakes fish* Critical Fertilator: The Micromanager of Macronutrients |

He was actually eating a bristle worm, so I thought about leaving him in there, that's when I remembered what I was doing and caught him and threw him in what I'm now calling the crab pit. I'm wondering if they will attack each other or not, but IMO let the best crab win. Anywho...the search goes on. Critical Fertilator: The Micromanager of Macronutrients |

I got him out of the main display and into a sectioned of part of my sump, the crab pit. Critical Fertilator: The Micromanager of Macronutrients |
