Hello,
my bubble tip anemone is melting into bits...
it started yesterday when i notice it secrets bits of slime...this morning i notice it shribble up and part of it is kind of melting or eroding away...

it doesn't seem to move at all...

is it dead for sure? should i take it out of the tank now, or can i still do something to save it?

thanks

Did you use coper based meds before in your tank? If so this is your problem, if not it could be your lights and water conditions, but I think you are past the stage of saving it.

What kind of light do you have. I belive that type needs more light. The problem is, once they are light starved, it's to late. Even adding more light will not help.

If its melting then remove it. When they melt they become one big ball of ammonia

This is one of those, lose a life to save many. It *might* come back, but chances are slim.

I would also reccomend removing and destroying it before it effects anything in your tank.

On the light comment... with my BTA experiences and observations of others, they seem to do a lot better under concentrated PC rather than MH. Don;t get me wrong, they still need a lot of light. But the intensity of metal halide seems to have a strange effect on them.

thank u all for your advice.

i have disposed of the anemone already,
and have made water change after getting rid of the corpse.

fortunately all my other corals are not affected.

i didn't know why it suddenly will get light starved.
it was doing alright in my tank for 4 or 5 months already,
my water quality is good.

i guess i'll just buy some mushrooms to replace its place.

It may not have had enough light right from the start, it just took a long time to get to that point.
