hi...
my reef tanks been set up for about 5 mths now and i told my folks that i wanted someting new for the tank...
my mum has gone and bought me a anemone... the problem is i dont know what it is... and she cant remember either... ive emailed the store but no reply yet...
its got a very bright red base... purple/pinky tenticles that dont really get deeper at the ends... it likes being in the sand, i put it on a rock and it wouldnt stay there...
the tenticles are about 5cm long and the base a bit shorter... the base is about 4cm wide and the tenticles are about 0.5cm wide... it turns into a bright red ball at night...
it planted itself next to some green mushrooms when it was first put in and they didnt seem bothered when it was touching them... it was in a tank with clowns in the store... ive browsed the net and i think it probably a long tenticled anemone... let me know what u think...

also... is it normal for a mythrax crab to be protective over some green mushrooms... hes not eating them hes just sort of sheltering under them, hes nearly the same colour... when a fish comes too close to him or the mushrooms he stretches his arms out to scare them... hes eating normaly and isnt always there but it seems strange...

You are probably correct in your conclusion that it is an LTA.....hard to tell without a picture though.

As for the emerald crab.....they do that when they feel threatened to make themselves appear bigger than they are.

A very common anemone is a condy. Look up pictures of a condy anemone and see if that's what you have.
