Requires a technical rewrite.

The mickey mouse strain of the platy is a colour variant , not a distinct recognised species. Reword it without the word species. perhaps an entry along the lines of..

"The platy is one of the worlds most popular species of fish for selective breeding efforts, and comes in a range of colour and patternation variants, including a "mickey mouse" variant, so described because of a distinctive shaped pattern on the tail. Other more extreme examples of selective breeding include "balloon" variants with shortened bodies and bloated features. These fish are vulnerable to swim bladder and organ compaction issues, and many of the high red and piebald colour specimens are more vulnerable to developing skin melanomas due to errors in the development of pigment cells. While colourful fish are to be enjoyed, for perfectly healthy , long lived and vigourous specimens it is better to choose those fish that have more in common with the natural strains, and avoid the worst excesses of selective breeding. "

Sorry about the reject vote dude, but I have to be objective.Wishing you more success on future occassions though. I'm not big on folks being pedantic, but mentioning a variant as a species is a bit of a faux pas, and since so many people think that variants are different species , its a good thing to keep the record straight.
