The good news is that I'm getting a free 30 gallon tank in a week or so. The catch is that I have to get rid of my 2 betta tanks. My mom told my to get a breeding net or something so I could put my bettas in the tank. But, breeding nets are too small and I don't want to take up space inside the tank. So I was thinking, maybe the fish can go on the outside of the tank! That got me started, and I'm wondering if I could "" my 30 gallon to allow a betta holder on the front. I think I could pick up some plexiglass from Petland. (I was talking to one of the guys for an hour about making paludariums and he said he sold plexiglass) I was thinking of adding two additions to the sides of the tank and one in the front. I was just wondering if I would have any weight problems. I wouldn't want the one of fixtures to break off and soak the floor. Even if there is a weight problem, I'm thinking of putting a sheet of wood or something to hold it all together. It's kinda of a strange idea, but I thought it would look cool. So, what do you think?

I would be really concerned with the added on tanks coming off due to the water pressure/stress. With no framing around the added portions there would be a lot of stress/flexing on the seams and the silicone would likely spring a leak or totally break free.

Not only would this cause a large mess, it would more than likely cause the death of your beloved bettas.

Maybe you can convince your Mom to let you keep 1 of your betta tanks and you could place a divider into one of them. This would give you a little of 1 gallon for each betta which should be sufficient.
