Ahhhh filter!! | |
RockmaninovRachs Hobbyist Posts: 57 Kudos: 39 Votes: 39 Registered: 05-Mar-2006 | Ahh!!!! I had to take off the tube that sucks the water in for a second and I tried to put it back and now it won't work!!!! Ahh!!!! I read the manual and can't figure out how to make it work!!!!! Any help? |

OldTimer Mega Fish USAF Retired Posts: 1181 Kudos: 1294 Votes: 809 Registered: 08-Feb-2005 | Sounds like possibly the impeller is not seated properly/completely. Take the filter off of your tank, remove the intake tube and then you should be able to also remove the impeller assembly. While you have it out, clean it up real good, an old toothbrush works great for this, then reassemble, making sure that the impeller assembly is properly seated in the housing mounts. Replace the intake tube, set back up on your tank, fill the reservoir and then plug back in. Jim |

I've seen filters be sluggish and give trouble to their owners when the filter housing itself where the impeller sits is gummed up with sludge and algae and the like. Also inspect the impeller for any wear or out of true-ness. Anything like that will cause it to hang as well. Any score marks or wobbling is cause for a replacement. |

sham Ultimate Fish Guru Posts: 3369 Kudos: 2782 Votes: 98 Registered: 21-Apr-2004 | If the impeller is sitting right make sure the water level of the tank is over the place where the intake strainer connects to the tube and not just over the bottom strainer piece. Then make sure the filter is filled completely with water until it slightly overflows. It will still take several minutes sometimes for my penguin 330 filters to start sucking water. |
