Hello folks! First post so be kind!

I've a Vision 180 and thinking about getting a magnetic scraper but I'm not sure if having a bow front will cause problems. Is there anyone out there with experience of using magnetic scrapers on bow fronted tanks?

Any help is most appreciated.

Welcome to FP.

If the tank is slightly bowed, you don't have any problems with Algae scrapers, but if you have the corners at a 90% angle, like one of my tanks, than you have to do it by hand or with a very small scraper.

Thanks, I don't think my tank is that severe!

I have a 46gallon bowfront and the magnetic scraper I have is terrible. But to be honest it's not good on straight glass either. The best scraper I've seen is the "Lee" hand scraper that has an abrasive side and a sponge side. You do have to put your hand in the tank, but it works the best.

I hate to disagree with Jason, but I have the magfloat and it goes right over the algae without removing all of it.

I'm sorry tetratech but i wasn't refering to magfloat, as a good algae cleaner.
I have 2 floating magnets & both aren't magfloat & both do a very good job for me.

I use a small MagFloat on my bowfront tank, and it works perfectly fine.

Anyone else have problems with MagFloat. Because it glides right over my algae so I've gone to bascially a sponse with an abrasive side.

Thanks for all the suggestions, beginning to like the idea of the sponge actually!

I suppose I'll give them all a try and see what works best!

Thanks again.

If you use a sponge, use the ones that DO NOT have the antibacterial/microbial/viral garbage that the overly uneccessary germophobic health police have made society to think they "need" to stay alive and not contract some brain debilitating disease just from using a damned sponge. The chemicals will not be good for the fish. Just a plain jane sponge. And heck, a little ball of filter floss works just as good, and it's aquarium safe, no doubt.
