Altering a 5g hood | |
sham Ultimate Fish Guru Posts: 3369 Kudos: 2782 Votes: 98 Registered: 21-Apr-2004 | The top of my 5g hex is divided in half with the light system on the front and filter on the back. The problem is the light system doesn't fit a large enough bulb and the filter was blocking light to half the tank so my plants were not happy. I ordered a 2nd light system from the manufacturer and replaced the filter with a small internal filter. However I failed to realize the light system takes up slightly more than half the top of the tank and fits perfectly with the filter cover so now my 2 lights don't both fit on the top. Idea is to take the light system out of the larger light hood and put it in the filter cover. First problem is will it fit? There is a gap for the cord on the filter cover and the light system is built around a fairly large access door so maybe. 2nd problem is how to attach it? I think if I try to put in screws the plastic will crack. Can I just use aquarium silicone or super glue to stick the lighting system in the filter cover? [/font] |
