Hello,
I have a small drip comming down the side of my tank.
It starts under the top black rim. I see no cracks in the glass. SO my glue on the inside is bad somewhere.

I am not Overfilling I am filling just to the corret amount.

I bought the correct glue, and I am wondering if I have to empty my tank or can I just drop the level several inches for a couple of days and fix the problem.

Can anyone please give me a detailed procedure of fixing this problem on a working tank. It doesn't bother me enough to take everything out to fix.

Thanks,
JH

get some aquarium silicone (100%) make sure it has nothing else in it.

drain the water a few inches and re-silicone it (You will have to scrape the old stuff out, but WACTH OUT, you dont want to break the sealent below the water level)

You can get aquarium silicon at your local fish store. Make sure you take the exsiting silicone off the rim and put the new on and you should be set. Check the other parts of the tank to for leaks and crappy silicone

Depending on what size tank it is, your best bet is to remove the water and work on it empty.

Use a new razor blade (careful) to remove the old silicone in the bad place, being sure to cut past the crack in the silicone due to the fact that the crack may run further, but just isn't visible at the surface. Get as much off as you can with the razor blade, then use a quick drying non residual cleaner (read: rubbing alcohol) to prep the area. Follow the manufacturers directions on how to seal the tank, and let it sit for at least 48 hours to cure. Test the seal in an area where you don't mind getting wet. If it's all good, run with it

Drop the water level, and pump some aquarium silicone under the inside of the black lip.....should do the trick nicely....what is probably happening is that water is reaching the inside rim, and via capillary action is finding its way through some small breach in the silicone.
