i wasnt sure if this belonged here or photobooth so i put it here thinking others could learn from it.

here is some of the electronics needed for a canopy with lights. the plan is to have 4 T8 bulbs but T12s could also work. just make sure you get a ballast recommended for T12s.

It will be going over a 75 gallon tank. ill be building the canopy and lighting at the same time makeing sure everything fits together perfectly.

Lets start with the basics. aside from this you will also need T8 sized bulbs.
1: 13 amp, 6ft, 3 g power cord. can go lower in amps but this is the smallest they had on the shelf unless i wanted to go 15ft lol.

2: Heat shrink. used over connections to make them moisture proof.

3: Wire nuts. Can be used instead of the heat shrink if you dont wanna saulder a connection and use heat shrink. can be made moisture proof just the same by twisting the wire together then filling the nut with silicone. followed by twisting the wire into the nut.

4: 6 amp push button on/off switch. over kill on the switch, im only gona be drawing about half the amps it can handle.

5: instant start ballast for 4 T8 bulbs. ill include a wiring diagram for this later.

6: Wire ties. these are mostly for the mess in the back of my cabinet and to tie my eheim spray bar tube to the back of my HOB filter intake.

Very nice Sin!

Have you made up your mind yet, about keeping it the way it is, or are you gonna scrap the plywood?
