Here is an idea someone gave me (from the forums ) for a tank bowl cover I made from a cd, 2 washers, and some super glue.

for the lazies.

They shade the glow of it with their mossy-misty costumes,
They wear masks of silk, porcelain, brass, and silver,
So as not to mislead with their own, ordinary faces.

LOVE IT! I would never have thought of the washers!

For animals, the entire universe has been neatly divided into things to (a) mate with, (b) eat, (c) run away from, and (d) rocks. - Terry Pratchett

Just use [ link] then your addy [ /link] for clickable links. Just remove the spaces .

CD's work alright for bowl covers, I've used them in the past, along with a small plant that will grow out the top (still allows air and is easy to remove plant and lid for feeding with proper food). Only one big issue, CD's degrade rather quickly if they've gotten wet, especially any CD or DVD R or RW. A great use for all those AOL CD's .

I used to use CD's as lids (without washers though) back when I had some female bettas still in their little cups that they came in (1/3g...they were quite large for little cups). I was going to put them in a tank I had my baby guppies in and move the guppies into another tank, but the fish in the other tank chased down the guppies, so I just had to let the bettas live in the cups until I got the guppies their own tank (at a friend's house).

I didn't break it

Yeah, the story is with the washers was one day during construction class, I was walking toward a building we were working on, on campus, and I saw some lying around and I picked one up and just started tossing it around until I realized, "Hey, this hole is just as big as a cd's!!!" and at the time I was thinking for some lids. So I "borrowed" the washers and put them together!
