I would say so, since they hold ALOT of beneficial bacteria, and you dont mimi-cycle when you change the filter pads.

Yes, of course they make a difference. The biowheels are more space for beneficial bacteria.

Yes i think they make quite a bit of difference since when you change the filter cartridge a lot of bacteria goes caput but with a bio wheel you still have a lot of good bacteria in your filter. Both of the filters i have on my 33 have bio wheels.

What other filter gives your bacteria carnival-quality ferris wheel ride?

I had one for a long time and it caused me soo many problems and was very loud, and since my tank is in my bedroom i decided to go with an aquaclear. I like the biowheel, it just sometimes requires more maintenance, and gets very tedious when the hinges break, the wheel stops turning, etc.

Bio-Wheels are the only way to go if your using a HOB filter. Only with biowheels can you safely change filter media regularly. A biowheel is soooo much more efficient than a filter pad because the bacteria is super charged from all the oxygenation.
