Hi,

I have an established tank - yes the one I have written about before here.

I want an easy way to add room for extracting and returning water from and to the tank through the existing space to allow me to add a fluid bed filter I bought some time ago with the thought of upping my filtration failing buying a new tank.

However the space allowed by the glass fittings to hold lids etc mean I don't really have any extra room for tubing.

Currently it is fitted with a Fluval 404 filter - trusty worker there - and I was wondering if anyone was aware of a fitting/contraption that allows multiple hose access in limited space without having to really frig around with lots of diy.

Thanks in advance.

You can't just run 2 tubes through the same space. They either fit or they don't and you'll have to make the space bigger or not use one if they don't. If you have a standard plastic glass hood then most have a plastic strip on the back that you cut to make room for filters. If the tubes are too wide even with the plastic removed then you either have to leave the glass sit on the top of the front rim of the tank to gain an extra inch or you can replace one of the glass panels with a narrower one. There are alot of tanks with various widths but the same length so if you get panels made for a smaller tank of the same length they won't be as wide. That gives you more space to fit thicker filters or tubing. ie I used the glass top from my 20long on my 29g to leave enough space for the 4" output tube from the refugium.
