Filter Trouble | |
LEE_WILMOT_706 Enthusiast Posts: 243 Kudos: 201 Votes: 3 Registered: 27-Jun-2004 | I have a tank tht has a bio-wheel. The water is drawn in by the box filter and push up a duct, along out and along the filters and goes back into the tank, and it starts all over again. The problem is wen it gets drawn in and up the duct, it makes a noise like theres no water there and white foamy bubbles appear at the duct. This means lees water is bein filterd. Can anyone tell me why this is happening ?? |

Also when you start it up, add water straight to the container where the filter media is, so that the filter doesn't have to try so hard to fill the container on it's own...and then when it is full you will know because the loud sucking noise almost immediately dies down or stops... hope that helps, heidi "I've got a great ambition to die of exhaustion rather than boredom." I generally add enough that' it's started to flow back into the tank as if it were running. Is this a filter you just got or did you just do filter maintence? In both cases you might want to try taking it apart and reassembling, sometimes things arent lined up exactly right. Make sure the filter is level and the intake is placed in all the way. I've had both situations lower filtering power. ^_^ and life's like an hourglass, glued to the table No one can find the rewind button girl, So cradle your head in you hands And breathe, just breathe..." |

If you have to pull it apart to take a peek, make sure the impeller is in good shape, and that it's seated properly, and that there is no obvious obstructions in the uplift tube. |
