Well...just had a rather unpleasant experience with my fluval biolife filter (although, have to say it is my first problem in its two year life). I just started changing the water in my tank, and to my shock i found that the pump had burnt out, caused by debris clogging up the air intake on the pump unit, so that when the filter medium clogged up, the motor burnt out. not funny.
And to add insult to injury, when i was checking on the filter media to try and determine how long ago it had died, the bagging holding all the ceramic rings fell apart. It appears to have decayed in situ. again, nice.
ive had to replace the bags with tights, and fortunately i have an old biolife motor knocking around, and the bacterial colony has been transferred to my cannister filter. But others may not be so fortunate...so Fluval Biolife filter owners...ye be warned...

Caled: Have you ever changed the filter media for new ones in the 2 years you have owned this?
