I'm looking to replace my Emperior Filters (a 400 on a 60 tank gal and a 280 on a 40 gal tank). I'm heavily considering going to Fluval canisters. I'm figuring in the long run, the media will be cheaper. I don't run anything in the filters other than empty Aquaricare cartridges for solid waste and have had no problems for years now but the cartridges don't last more than a few weeks even with cleaning. I'm thinking the Fluval foam will last longer. My question is how much of an improvement is the 405 over the 404 and 305 over the 304? The 5 series is quite a bit more since everyone is offloading the series 4 filters. Any feedback would be appreciated.

If it was me, l would buy the 04 series as there is no differents beside the cd you get with the 05.

They all do the same Job.

I have a 204 on my 42 Gal and its working they way l expect it to.
