I really like my Tronic submersible

I've got some other unlabeled heater that's about 15 years old on my 29g that works great too

Well I have one, haven't had a problem with it and it's easier to ajust under water then the old penn plax I have.

I think I also have a HOB top fin, could be a tetratec, not sure really but HOB heaters are useless IMO.

I have one other brand submersible, can't think of the name ATM...oh and a Ebo-Jager....

^_^

Rena Cal Heaters (both the regular and the "top lite excel"

They are well calibrated, extremely durable, and I've never had a problem with one of the 20 or so I have purchased over the last 4 years (I maintain several tanks in which I have upgraded the heaters to Rena Cals).

Also, its hard to beat their price for a sumbersible heater, especially if you get them from That Pet Place / That Fish Place. (http://www.thatfishplace.com)

Also, for tanks which have agressive fish or lots of rocks, this brand works really well with the heater protectors made for Tronic heaters.

The only think I dislike, but this is for heaters in general, not just Rena Cal, is that suction cups seem to stiffen after a few months or so in hard or saline water. This doesn't seem to happen as fast to the suction cups on the heater protectors, which is another reason to use them.

Proquatics Hydromatic, I think they're only carried at PetSmart.

I've had lots of issues with heaters ]:| These have no problems with the suction, easy to read, the adjustment clicks so I know exactly where it's set. And most importantly it's very accurate.

Ebo-Jager

A lot of people say that Ebo-Jager is the best brand of heater there is. They just put a lot of effort into their heaters. Also I've heard no comaplaints about them.

VisiTherm 300 watt (thermostatic and submersible) heater in my 90 gal. Was $40. (about $20. something American)..
Had for 2 years so far.. I love that it's thermostatic, works great. Nice product and I'd use that brand again.

My 30 gal and 10 gal both have cheap heaters..
A Radiant 75 watt, and an Avant 50 watt..
They both do what they're meant to do.
The Avant was bought at Zellers..

I've used Radiant and Hagan heaters before and got 10 years or more out of both with no probs.
My current heaters are all under 3 years old, so time will tell if the quality lasts. Lets hope so, this is an expensive hobby !

Tronic Submersible I think. Works great, keeps my tank at a steady 78*F. I've had problems with Hagen though. And on my betta tank, I just turn on the light when things get chilly.

EDIT: forgot to say my problem with Hagen. It didn't keep the temperature constant and always needed to be adjested. Also I found it to be more fragile than most heaters.

I just got an visi-therm for my 2.5 gallon tank...seems to be working good...I like the fact it has temp setting you can see...no guessing at what you want it set at.
