Heating a 1 gal glass bowl | |
CrimsonaX Hobbyist Posts: 130 Kudos: 57 Registered: 30-May-2007 | I've been told that it is possible to use a heat mat, though they're designed for hermit crabs specifically. Would this be a safe option to use or just not worth the risk? |

The thing is that it will raise the temp a certain number of degrees above the room temperature, whatever room temperature is. So make sure that your room is always cool, and that the bowl isn't near a heating duct or in the sun and you should be fine. To make sure, put a thermometer in the bowl and watch it carefully for the first 12 hours. |

I haven't heard anything about the reliability of these but if you did get one you'd have to put a thermometer in there and keep a close eye on the temp. |
