Jebo canister filters | |
Ace Hobbyist Posts: 56 Kudos: 17 Votes: 13 Registered: 28-Feb-2007 | I've finally talked my wife into letting me buy a 4 ft 65 US gal tank which I intend on setting up as a malawi tank,so I'm just doing a little homework before I set it up.I was just wondering if anyone has had any experiences with Jebo canister filters ? I've seen some LFS using them & they are reasonably priced. Thanks...Ash "if you're goin swimmin, watch out for the noahs" |

However Penn-Plex makes cascade filters, I use these on my tanks and have had no problems. They are quite, the pass by is very little and they come with all the bells and whistles of the expensive filters. They are very affordable as will. If you shop online you can save even more money. The cheapest place I have found them is BigAlsonline.com even with the shipping. Most online store will offer free shipping if you spend 150.00 which is no that hard to do when you are setting up an new tank. Djrichie "So Long, and Thanks For All The Fish" Douglas Adams |

I did have to repair a cracked piece of tubing but that stuff is easily replaced or repaired. The main cannister and motor aren't bad. The design of it filters well, the media baskets make it easy to clean, and the motor is still running despite forgetting to clean it occasionally. Jebo is cheap because they cut corners and on their filters they did it by using cheap tubing for the intake and spraybar. It cracks easy if you aren't careful but the motor and everything around it is quite sturdy. For only paying $50 for it versus over $100 for most cannisters of equivalent size I'd say it's worth it. It does a much better job than when I was running several penguin 330s on the tank and I rarely have to worry about doing any maintenance on it. However if you want something that will last(I believe some people have 10+ year eheims) and have the money to spend your probably better off looking elsewhere. Jebo cannisters are for those of us that really want a cannister instead of HOB filters but only have $100 in their checking account. I doubt this cannister will surpass 5years though without something more serious going wrong. |

Ace Hobbyist Posts: 56 Kudos: 17 Votes: 13 Registered: 28-Feb-2007 | Thanks for the replies dj & sham... As this is my second tank I'm not in such a rush,so I'll keep looking at different options. An Eheim is still an option & I've read other threads where people have had very good service from the Eheim classic range,so I'll keep that in mind. I guess we are all looking for value for money so we can actually afford to put some fish in the tank. Thanks...Ash "if you're goin swimmin, watch out for the noahs" |

Ace Hobbyist Posts: 56 Kudos: 17 Votes: 13 Registered: 28-Feb-2007 | Thanks monkeyboy.... The only problem i've found with a lot of the things on ebay is they don't ship internationally & if they do the costs with anything a little weighty are pretty high. I haven't read too many bad reports on the jebo & as the funds are getting a little tight, I think I might go that way. Thanks for your input. "if you're goin swimmin, watch out for the noahs" |
