Does anyone know of an online source for just a plain aquarium hood/cover (without any light)? I basically just need the frame, access hatch and glass that goes over the top of the tank. All of the off-the-shelf hoods/covers I've found come bundled with a basic low intensity light included. I'd like to buy a good solid hood and a good medium/high output light (separately if need be). Right now it looks like I might be stuck with an extra light (and spending extra money) just to get the hood I need. I'm putting together a new 40G tank 36x12.5x20 (same length and width as a 30G, slightly deeper). So far, I've checked Big Al's,Petsmart.com, Aquariumguys.com and several of the plant supply/plant accessories sites. Thanks!

This site sells a hood that they sell for their light set ups and it may work for what you want.

Thanks for the Foster and Smith tip. That's the closest thing to what I'm been looking for I've found so far. One of my LFS said they could special order one (they didn't disclose their supplier) but it would have been more than twice the cost of these.

The glass Versa-tops at Drs Foster and Smith are a good price. I don't know where to get a frame though.

The pet-co I go to once in awhile has glass tops and covers of differant types, you could try there.
