It may be cheaper in the long run to just purchase a new twin light setup. http://www.ahsupply.com/index.html Jim |

Better to hit the home improvement stores and save that cash for something more important, like filters. For a standard 48" 55gal tank why not just get yourself a twin tube shoplight. The light can be had for $7-$15, the more expensive one can be laid right on the glass top of the tank as it has wings which will support it nicely. Aquarium lights of the T12 variety can be had for $7.95 each as well. So, for $30 you just upgraded your lights and saved a ton of money. As for adding a tube to a light fixture, you will find that clips, ballast, and starter will run you in the neighborhood of $40, cheaper to replace the whole thing. I know, I use shop lights on all my larger tanks for this very reson. Last edited by tanker at 04-Jun-2005 11:15 |
