Ok... So I've got it hooked up... Yay me

The question I have is about the output. It seems to be putting out a small stream of "Waste" water along with about the same (a little less) amount of "Good" water. The temperature is 37F out side if that matters. Is this normal? Or should waste water production be less? By my (crude) calculations the "Good" water output is about right.

Most good RO units produce about 1 gallon of good water to 4 gallons of waste water. Ideal temp for the water passing through the membrane is around 70F (for max. water production per day) if I remember correctly. The colder the water the slower it will make water....warmer means faster water.

Thanks DRO .

It seems I'm getting slightly more than that... In 10 minutes I'll know for sure. I've got it outputting to a 1 gallon jug and I've set a timer for 1 hour. It seems to be right on track but the waste water doesn't seem to be going at a 4/1 ratio, it seems much lower... Maybe 2/1 or 1.5/1.

I'll do another test after this one has concluded.

Would a new unit produce a greater waste/good ratio?

I'm still waiting for the first 10 gallons to be produced so I can start actually using the water.

Edit:
I just checked and it produced exactly 1 gallon in one hour.
However I found something extremely disturbing...
The water tested as follows...
GH: <1
KH: <1
pH: 8.6+
That's not normal I hope...

Editx2:
I tested the pH again (I warmed the tube with my hands) and I got something in the neighborhood of 6.8-7.2 (I think maybe 7.0).

Id say its working correctly...some units just dont produce as much waste water...

The second PH sounds more like what RO water should be
