Hey guys, I have the Tetratec Deepwater airpump, Model DW-18.

Anyways, I have it on my bubblewand on the 20 L tank (which is only 12" deep)

Anyways, the air pump is pretty loud (imangine a air pump put against a wall) and that is what it sounds like, even though it is on my carpet.

Is there any way to get it quieter?

I Also have the Deepwater 24-2 in my 55g tank running 4 airstones for the UGF. That pump is very quiet, but when I looked at the air hose comming out of it, they were brown in color then faded away about 5" up, what is the cause of this? Is it just the heat effecting the tubing?

Thanks for any help

Get new tubing, it's just the effect of oxygen breaking it down, that's normal.

Check your airstones, sounds like you're getting a lot of backpressure on the pump, causing it to make noise. Chances are they're clogged up and your air pump will fail shortly if you don't either get new airstones or unplug it, so you don't ruin it.

Roll over to the store, and see if their pumps are as noisy, you could have gotten a bum one.

I had the same problem with a pump and wandd all brand new but loud, but worked really well, do you know those skid proof mats that you put tools on and stuff I went and bought some of that and put it under sounds way better.
