TigerAngel Fish Addict Posts: 522 Registered: 22-Feb-2004 | I've made a DYI on net lids for my tanks. It got really hot here during summer, so I got same plastic net gutter guard, cut it to the shape of the lids. It started to curl as gutter guards is fairly stiff. So I got some bamboo skewers sticks and thread it along the side holes so to flatten it out. It works. Keeps the tank cooler by a couple of degrees. (I put the fan on across the top as well). And being plastic it won't leech any toxins back into the tanks. I thought of using fly screen mesh, but was told it was made with aluminum in the thread and could be toxin to the fish. ***Tiger Last edited by TigerAngel at 06-Mar-2005 02:42 |

Joe Potato Fish Addict Kind of a Big Deal Posts: 869 Votes: 309 Registered: 09-Jan-2001 | Mine was probably a DIY Python from a siphon head, a hose, and a water bed kit. Not the most impressive thing, but, hey, it worked. That's more than I can say for most of my creations. Joe Potato |

Feeds a river tank (one way water flow) that was another thrift-store bought vintage tank. You can read about it here if you want: http://members.dslextreme.com/users/czcz/7g --- http://justanothertank.com |

I didn't even know you could get suction cup clips to hold the air hose in place. (LFSs always have this sort of thing behind the counter, prolly 'cause it 'walks' otherwise) Calla and Sin had to come over and take pity on my. I was so EMBARASSED but it really helps to have a set up that is working well. Last edited by wish-ga at 18-Mar-2005 20:17 ~~~ My fish blow kisses at me all day long ~~~ |
