If your air temp is consistantly cooler than your water temp you'll want higher wattage, if your air temp is often warmer than the tank temp you may not need as much. It's always important to keep a heater in the tank to help keep the temp from falling too much. ^_^ [hr width='40%'] I need to calculate, what creates my own madness... and I am waiting for disaster" |

I think you'll be fine with a 150-200watt, depending on room temperature. FISH MAISTRE Banned Posts: 18 Kudos: 20 Votes: 7 Registered: 10-Feb-2005 | I have a 200 watt in my 55 gal and it hardly ever turns on because the ambient room temp where the tank is stays about 70-75 degrees. You may be able to get away with a 150 watt. However, listen to Babe and go by the 'rule' for this reason: If you lost heat in your house for a day or so, would a 150watt be enough? I went away for the weekend and while I was gone the heat went out, not the electric but the heat (gas) and my 200 watt prevented any casualties I say 200 watt |
