Why do you want to put it inside the tank? Normal backgrounds go on the outside of the tank.

In that case, you can just put a light coating of some vegetable oil on it, that way it will suck to the glass, and will brighten the appearence of the scene a bit, while staying in place. That way, you can just put a few pieces of tape on the rim and be set

i assumed inside because thats how the LFS does it..

so you reckon that just smearing V oil oon it, and taping the edges will do the trick..

wont the tape eventually lose it's stickyness?

Fix it on the outside of the tank & fix it with double sided tape.

Once the tape is on, it shouldn't lose stickiness. If it does, you can just put some new tape on it

Hey there,

If you have a paper roll-out backgrounds, place it on the outside of the tank with some tape. no need for silicone.

But, if you have one of those 3D rock backgrounds, then you will need to buy a tube of V2 Aquarium silicone and seal the background inside the tank. Cost around AU$10-13.
