I currently have bio-max in both 2nd and 3rd media baskets. This has really benifited my tank. I have heard that peat moss is the best. I also was recommended to buy activated carbon called "chemi-pure" by boyd enterprises. This stuff is supposed to last 4 months as opposed to the normal 1 month. Anybody have experience with this stuff? |

I haven't used that Carbon, so I can't say. I like Seachem Matrix Carbon sandwiched between 2 pieces of foam. In the other trays I have lava rock & oyster shells in one and ceramic bioballs in the other. I use the lava rock & shells for my plants - the lava rock for iron & the oyster shells to harden my very soft water. Regards, Deb In wildness, nature is not human-hearted! |
