(ie: can you put two compact flourescents in a 10G incandescent hood?) i have three tanks and the only plants i've been able to grow with any degree of success are java fern, java moss, and one apontogeton bulb. i'd love to have planted tanks, but do not want to get as serious as supplemental CO2, me any easier/cheaper way? ![]() |

In a ten gallon incandescent hood, there are screw-in mini compacts that work superbly for plants. http://www.bigalsonline.com/catalog/product.xm Couple of those and you'd be set. If co2 and all that isn't wanted, flourish excel ( a carbon source) can be used. The higher the lighting, the more necessary co2 becomes though, and even at lower lighting co2 is beneficial. If you do not plan to do the whole co2 thing, I would not go over 2 watts per gallon...that's not a magic number, it's just my opinion. |
