Other than buying a new filter, is there anything I can do to modify the output? (keep in mind that I'm technically challenged ) Thanks ~~~~~~~~~~~~ There is water at the bottom of the ocean |

If it's just too high from the water can't you fill the water level to the output? Works on all my filters. Otherwise someone suggested to me to silicone a piece of acrylic, plexiglass, glass, plastic, so on to make the output longer and closer to the water. |

The high output also made life more difficult for my betta, plus I could no longer afford surface agitation since I began injecting CO2. To fix the problem I simply took a filter sponge (the kind that come with AquaClear filters) and put it over the mouth of the output. If a whole on is too large, just cut it to fit. There should be a way to jam it in there without it falling off. The water may get a little backed-up inside the filter because it's effectively slowing the output down, but it shouldn't be a problem at all. If it doesn't stay on by itself, you can always use a rubberband to hold it on, especially if it's a small filter. Last edited by NowherMan6 at 26-Apr-2005 15:42 |

Not really good for the 10g but it does well on the smaller tank. Maybe I worded the original post wrong...it's not really the splashing that's a problem, it's just very fast. I think I might try the sponge idea ~~~~~~~~~~~~ There is water at the bottom of the ocean |

Sponge or nylons should greatly reduce outflow, but you're also placing added stress on the filters impeller. Is there any way you could design the aquascape around the filter to either reduce the intake or the outflow? Maybe try plants (stronger ones like java) or driftwood or rocks around it? Just soem ideas . ^_^ [hr width='40%'] It only hurts when I breathe" |
