getting rid of hot pink mildew in siphons? | |
LMuha Mega Fish Posts: 908 Kudos: 1144 Votes: 183 Registered: 17-Mar-2003 | My Python tube had a bunch of pink and black mildew in it that looked absolutely disgusting. So I took it out on the patio this afternoon and poured a solution of bleach water into it. It worked great -- on the black mildew, which is now gone. But it didn't do a thing to the pink stuff. (And it really is a shocking hot pink! ) Any suggestions? I laid the tubing flat on the patio so the bleach could sit in there and work on the mildew, but it doesn't seem to be doing a thing. It's confined to one end of the tube -- should I just cut that 3-foot section off? (It's a 25-foot siphon.) On the other hand, I just use it to take water out of the tank, not to put it back in, so the fish really aren't being exposed to the mildew ... |

How about running really really hot water through it...plug to bathroom sink, and run it into the bathtub maybe with really hot water? One of those should work if the vinegar and salt doesn't heidi "I've got a great ambition to die of exhaustion rather than boredom." Thomas Carlyle |

Also they have pretty good prices, thing is finding one as long as you need it, maybe as was said before with string, use a long peice on the end of the spit cleaner. NOPE I WAS WRONG !!! Trombone has a long cleaner.... Angel Eel Last edited by angeleel at 13-Apr-2005 19:23 |

Most of the snakes are only 5' at best. Besides that I don't think that it would be worth getting it stuck in there. 19G Container Pond [IMG]http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y118/Wingsdlc/Ric |
