I have not personally, but I have heard that it can work. I would think you'd want to keep it as wrinkle free as possible.

I've heard about it with mixed results. I dont think that it would do that much more.

I had a silver coloured reflector in one of my tanks & i was told that it doubled the light. I'm not sure about it.

It depends on the colour and the shape of the reflector. You're never going to get DOUBLE the light, but you can get pretty close with a parabolic reflector.

The problem with aluminum foil as a reflector is that it does wrinkle very easily. Each wrinkle will send the light off in a slightly different direction. I've read that it's possible to damage the bulbs by having misdirected light refracted back into them @ the wrong angle. In the short term it may work but you're better off getting a proper reflector. Try [link=hello lights]http://www.hellolights.com" style="COLOR: #EB4288[/link] or [link=AH supply]http://www.ahsupply.com/" style="COLOR: #EB4288[/link].

The reflector is rounded & it fits in the light tube. You can angle it how much you like & it has a very shiny silver colour.

The problem with alo foil is that it dosn't last that long you'll find no matter how carefull you stick them on after a few week/month it well start to rinkle up and start to peel off... a flat white curved surface would work much better
_good luck_

Thanks for the replies. I am concidering the cold cathode lights to view nightime activities so I will probably get a new lighting system in the future.
