It looks like your tank is only a 39 UK gal.

I find that building a stand for anything under say 75 US gals, is really not worth the effort.

The $ it will cost in supplies and the time spent, will exceed the cost of just buying a premade stand.

If you still wish to make your own,

Wood will be a fine choice. Make sure you build it to support the corners of the tank.

A simple 2 by 4 frame with plywood exterior will do nicely You can even cut the front out to make cabinet doors.

I'm sure Keith will be glad to offer you any advice you may have on cabinet building. He was after all an instructor in the trade.
