Hi all, I was at Wal-Mart the other night and saw what I thought would be an awsome tank stand...

It is approximately 30 inches long X 18 inches deep X 5 or 6 ft tall. It has 4 adjustable shelves, and is tested to hold 250 lbs/shelf...I was thinking that with anchoring it to the wall, and only using the 2 center shelves for tanks this would be an affordable way to get a nice stand....

It would be used for 2-10 gallon tanks. What do ya'll think? Think it would worth getting? I'd try only one shelf at a time...Let me know...Heidi

You're talking about those metal(or plastic) utility shelves, correct? That's actually what I was thinking of using as well. I have a few of these shelving systems for tools. They really do hold a lot of weight. But, for a long term aquarium setup, I would definitly add a few extra support pieces. Most importantly, I would add a 3/4" piece of MDF(or wood) underneath the original shelves, just to be sure.

well according to all-glass's site, a 10G is 111lbs with full water. no equipment or anything tho. only water and the tank.

so i think if u use this, it would be fine, as long as there arent any other things...

then again.. i am using a small table for a TV set i found on the street for my 400lb 30G lol. its actually pretty stable, but if u push real hard, it might go side to side twice.
