![]() | tanks from walmart...any problems? |
GirlieGirl8519![]() ![]() Fish Master *Malawi Planter* Posts: 1468 Kudos: 1029 Votes: 35 Registered: 25-Mar-2005 ![]() ![]() | Has anybody had experience with the tanks Walmart sells? They come in the kits with a whisper filter at my Walmart. I am going to buy a new filter and flourescent bulbs, but I want to know if the tank is any good. Has anyone had any problems with them? I am going to buy the 55g kit. I have a 10g now and haven't had any problems with it so far. I don't know the brand name. The reason I'm asking is because I am more worried about it leaking and having 55 gallons of water in my bedroom floor. I am on a budget and want to the buy the cheapest one, but if that means a lower quality then I will go with an AGA tank from another store.:%) |

I've had a 29 gallon for I don't know how long:%)it was my first "big" tank and it is still running great ![]() ![]() Then I have also bought the 55 gallon, but do we really want to go into it ![]() ![]() Otherwise I really have enjoyed the tanks and they are a pretty good tank, and hey it comes with a hood and all... It's probably the same since you mentioned Tetra. The filter that comes with it is tetra whisper I think. I don't know for sure. I guess I should know the brand before asking. I've looked at most of PetSmart's tanks and they are just too high for me. I don't have alot of money to spend but I have enough for the things I want. I am going to upgrade the filter because I hate the one that comes with the kits. Thanks for all the feedback..it really helped! ![]() |

The only problem I had with one of them was the fact that the filter was too tubulent and killed a couple of fish because of exhaustion (wasn't my tank but a gift to my siblings, I would've caught that fast and not let any fish die). I also bought the 29 gallon similar set up at PetSmart and like the one that I have. But make sure you leak test it (I'm sure you will anyways) because the first 29 gallon set up I had had a leak in it, and I was unfortunately a little too trusting and didn't test it before hand so I had a mess. But overall, especially since you're going to upgrade the important stuff they're a pretty good buy. |

I got two 55g that the center brace was broken. We got tired of hauling them back. I finally went somewhere else and got one with a higher quality fr |

I have had tanks from there up and running with all the parts that came with the tanks with the exception of one tank, that needed a new filter impeller, for about 4 years now. Other then that I have never had one break at all (Knock on wood) in about 10 years of off and on buying from there. SHAM- You are very right open the box first!!!!! ![]() Around here the Petsmart prices are around the same sometimes better, so check there as well. Angel Eel ![]() |
