It'll be a decent filter for the type of tank you're describing. It's not a top-end filter, but it'll get the job done without making too much noise...

PM/email/msg me if you have any questions/comments regarding me or my knowledge or if you want me to read a thread.

Mines one of my quietest filters. Similar to other HOB's it has a larger outflow which allows it to make less noise than the AC filters.
If it's planned for a hospital tank than you might want to go with the replacement filter pads and carbon. Keep them on hand, but you only need to replace them if you've had some serious illnesses in the tank. Otherwise you can easily just squeeze out the filter floss. The pads will last quite a while.

I've bought a few of these myself and haven't had any problems with them...in fact I'm planning on using this set up as my fry tank I think...It was what Santa Claus gave Leslie as her start up...they are good, and cheap, now if they only made 200 gallon set up like this...heidi michelle

finally bought it...to my surprise...it has hydor heater!!! im impresssed!!! hydor alone cost cad 33 in my lfs...and i just bought the complete starter kit for cad 62.. it was cheap alrite. the only observation is the hob power filter...it doesnt have a big media for bio. i just rely on the floss. but, i like the basket-type filter it got..i can just clean in in a month's time and reuse.. i can even put new act. carbon in it. with regards to bio filter...i just bought a biomax and just packed it in the gap inside the filter...hope it works..now..im satisfied...with the capacity for bioligical support!!!
