I agree. With small, community type fish I don't think 10x per hour would be necessary. Larger, messier fish like oscars and such definitely need 10-12x per hour. I would slightly understock the 33 and it should be ok. Make sure to stay on top of your water changes though. Jason |

Having the tank filtered 5 times every hour is enough if you keep up with your water changes and if your careful feeding. The amount of fish you keep in there depends on how clean you can keep the tank (clean as in water quality). Buy that 33 gallon you wanted, it'll be fine! EDIT: I keep a 10 gallon with 5 panda cories, 3 ottos, and a betta. I only have a fluval 1 power filter that does 50 gph (5 times over) and my water quality is perfect (to some degree). I do do 10 percent water changes daily, but even if i did less my fish would still be great. Once again, it's up to you how willing you are to do the water changes, or anything to maintain good water quality.
